The characters are great and all when you are playing solo, however, when playing in a group or as a duo they are loads better. You just have to pair them right. I’m going to tell you the best duos I have found while playing with a partner.

10. Wurt + Wormwood

Wurt can’t eat meat and Wormwood can plant seeds straight into the ground without having to till or use the garden rigamajig or any other tool. This duo works well because with all the healing foods that Wormwood makes Wurt can scarf them up while reaping the benefits. The meat won't go to waste since wormwood can eat those

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wurt takes advantage of the healing properties of the fruits and veggies Wormwood grows.
• Wurt can trade with the Merm king and receive specific crop seeds which works out for Wormwood.
• You can exchange the foods that one another won’t eat.

9. Wes + Wortox

I know that Wes isn’t the most favorable character to play but if you have someone who loves him then this duo is for you. Wes’s balloons drop souls which Wortox can use to heal them both, or eat ‘em you know because Wortox is the ‘soul starved’.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wortox drops souls to heal and Wes can use them to keep his health up.
• Wes’s ability to make balloons which they drop souls for Wortox.
• Wes is great for scavenging while Wortox takes out the mobs.

8. Wickerbottom + WX-78

These two are like pb&j, with Wicker’s books and WX being a robot who gets supercharged by lightning. Wickerbottom is a picky eater and WX-78 isn’t so all the stale food can be fed to him. While playing them make sure that you find the gears you need so that he can be Wicker’s bodyguard and possible light source.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wickerbottom has The End is Nigh book which turbocharges WX-78.
• Wickerbottom hates stale food and WX-78 will eat anything so swap the fresh stuff with her.
• Wickerbottom has a science boost so she can make an umbrella for WX-78 to keep him dry when it rains.

7. Wigfrid + Wortox

These two watch each other's backs all while slaying the constant. Wortox as his biggest perk in any duo can heal all while Wigfrid can craft her helmet and battle spear to share with others. These two again seem like a great duo to have.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wortox’s souls can heal Wigfrid.
• Wortox gains souls from all the mobs (not including shadows and clockworks) that he and Wigfrid slay.
• Wigfrid’s ability to craft an OP spear and helmet keep them both safe.

6. Wortox + Wormwood

Since Wormwood does not gain health from any of the food he can gain fast health from Wortox dropping a soul. Since living logs are so hard to come by and are useful Wormwood gives them freely, well with a bit of health loss.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wormwood can cut off his arm and give living logs with minor health loss while Worttox heals him.
• Wortox can heal Wormwood while he gives the healing food to Wortox.
• The armor and traps Wormwood crafts make soul harvesting easy for Wortox.

5. Wickerbottom + Wolfgang

With Wickerbottom’s books she gives unlimited food supply via berries and crops. Wolfgang is great when it comes to combat which gives both of them meat. This and the awesome ruins running they can do together with how much healing food they make together.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wickerbottom’s Applied Horticulture grows crops quickly which if you feed Wolfgang he is stronger.
• Wolfgang’s mightiness keeps Wickerbottom safe.
• Going into the caves and ruins with health food is a big bonus.

4. Warly + Wormwood

These two just make sense since they are the cook and the farmer! With Wormwood able to plant anywhere and Warly being able to make seasonings and dishes make them a great duo. Plus Warly is the only person who can make a single dish that’ll heal Wormwood, Grim Galette.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wormwood can plant crops for Warly to cook.
• Warly can make a single dish to heal Wormwood.
• Wormwood can harvest cactus with no repercussions for Warly’s recipes.

3. Warly + Wolfgang

The strong man and the chef are a good combo with Warly able to make seasons. Garlic seasoning helps with damage resistance and salt crystals with healing. Of course, the strong man would want to have the cook with him.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Warly can make seasonings to keep Wolfgang mighty.
• Wolfgang eats Volt Goat Chaud-Froid and can deal electrical damage.
• Wolfgang can deal damage and more especially from spices from Warly.

2. Wendy + Maxwell

Wendy’s dearly departed sister can help with her AOE (area of effect) and keep small to medium baddies off the two. Maxwell can create his shadow fighters making a great little army. That and they are family, the family who survives together thrives together right?

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• The pair take no sanity drain from being in the caves.
• Keep Abigail's flower and Abigail alive and you have light and a bodyguard.
• The two can gather materials quickly.

1. Wickerbottom + Maxwell

Wickerbottom can craft her books and give them to Maxwell. Maxwell can then read Wickerbottom’s books and not take any loss of sanity. This gives you an overabundance of berries and food.

What Makes Them a Great Combo

• Wickerbottom’s ability to craft her books.
• Maxwell’s ability not to take sanity drain from reading Wickerbottom’s books.
• Maxwell can harvest materials quickly so that Wickerbottom can build items.
